Sprint Final Report
Maja Alm of Denmark picked up her second gold medal in two days with an emphatic win in the Sprint Final. Ukraine's Nadiya Volynska took silver and Galina Vinogradova of Russia bronze.
In the men's race, Jonas Leandersson of Sweden won the gold medal, with Martin Hubmann of Switzerland in second place and Leandersson's Swedish teammate Jerker Lysell taking the bronze.
Jonas Leandersson and Jerker Lysell, the gold and bronze medallists from yesterday's Sprint Final, delighted the local crowd at this afternoon's medal ceremony by collecting their medals wearing traditional Scottish kilts.

Superb run from Maja Alm on last lap to take the gold medal
Denmark secured the first gold medal of the 2015 World Orienteering Championships in a thrilling Sprint Relay in Nairn this evening, with Norway in second place and Russia third, while Switzerland, the pre-race favourites, had to settle for fourth.

The World Orienteering Championships began this evening in Forres with the Sprint Qualification race. There were big victories for some of the pre-race favourites, with Tove Alexandersson (Sweden) and Yannick Michiels (Belgium) winning by significant margins, while two previous Sprint bronze medallists – Lena Eliasson (Sweden) and Venla Niemi (Finland) – missed out on a place in the Final. Last year’s gold medallists Judith Wyder (Switzerland) and Søren Bobach (Denmark) finished 2nd and 4th respectively in their heats.
